Parks and Recreation Summer Registration begins April
23
LIBERTY, Mo. – Looking for
something fun to do this summer? Check
out the Liberty Parks and Recreation
Summer brochure, which is chock full of fitness classes, activities for
seniors, leagues and even theatrical productions.
For the younger
crowd looking for something new and different to do this summer, check out the
Mad Science Jr. Engineer Camp for youth 6-12 years of age or Youth Tech Inc., a
cutting edge computer camp that offers sections on animation, web design and
video game design.
The brochure also
includes a number of new adult fitness programs that will challenge people of
all fitness levels, including the 90-minute Master
Blaster and the 60-minute Overweight
and Out of Shape for those just getting started in
a fitness program.
The Parks and
Recreation brochure, which will hit mailboxes before April 23, will also be
available online at www.c.liberty.mo.us/LPR
beginning April 16.
ParksOnline registration, as
well as traditional registration, will be available to Liberty Community Center members beginning April
23 at 5:30 a.m. Open registration, including online
registration, for all other Parks and Recreation patrons will begin April 30 at 5:30 a.m. However early
registration for swim lessons is only available in person, by mail or by phone
(no faxes or voice mail on the first day of registration, please). If openings are
still available in the swim lessons programs, online registration will then be
an option on April 30.
ParksOnline is a portal on the
City’s website that provides area residents with a wealth of information
regarding Parks & Recreation programs and classes as well as the ability to
register for adult and youth fitness classes and programs and day and extended
trips coordinated by Liberty’s Senior Services division. Check out
ParksOnline at www.ci.liberty.mo.us/ParksOnline.
To take advantage
of this online registration service, staff encourages Parks and Recreation
patrons to set up their user accounts prior to the first day of
registration. Those interested in the
online registration option should go to www.ci.liberty.mo.us/ParksOnline
and click “new customers” to set up their account. During the Liberty Community Center’s regular open
hours, a staff member will respond with an e-mail as quickly as possible
advising that your new account is confirmed.
Once the confirmation is received, you may begin using the online
registration services at any time, day or night
In addition to
early and online registration for Community Center members, GET M.O.R.E. (the member
reward program) can take advantage of:
·
A 25% member discount on land and water aerobic programs
(for non-resident members, discount applied to resident rate plus $10
non-resident fee).
·
A 67% member discount for Liberty Community Center childcare
($1/child/hour).
·
A $5 discount for Parks and Recreation Department programs –
Liberty Community Center and Parks
(excluding swim lessons, team registrations, aerobics, and programs with fees
of $15 or less).
·
A $5/hr. discount for Liberty Community Center rentals (meeting
rooms and theater).
Residents in the
64068, 64069, 64157 and 64158 zip codes should look for the Parks &
Recreation brochures in their mailboxes on or before the registration
date. The newly revised and expanded brochure
includes a listing of aerobics and fitness classes and programs,
swim lessons, youth and adult leagues, senior services programs and activities
as well as information on events at the Martha Lafite
Thompson Nature Sanctuary.
Parks and Recreation
customers will still be able to register for summer programs the old-fashioned
way – in person at the Liberty Community Center, or over the phone
at 816.439.4361. Phone registrations
require Mastercard, Visa, or American Express charge
cards. Due to the large volume of calls
and walk-ins received on the opening day of registration, voice mail messages
requesting registration for programs cannot be guaranteed. The Liberty Community Center is located at 1600 S. Withers
Rd.
