1. Can you hunt in the city limits of Liberty?

Bow and arrow hunting of deer and vermin control within portions of the city consisting of five (5) acres or more of unplatted land designated District A, Agricultural and District R1, Residential shall be permitted with a conventional bow and arrow, excluding any crossbows and only during the regular state hunting season.

The use of firearms is prohibited except by law enforcement and animal control officers.

You must also have written permission of the landowner.

No hunting shall be permitted within 250 ft of any roadway, residential structure or place where domestic animals are kept.

2. What are regulations regarding scooters and ATVs?

No person shall operate an unlicensed all terrain vehicle (ATV) in parks, onsidewalks, streets, alleys and public ways of the City.

ATVs are described as a vehicle manufactured for off-roadway use which is fifty (50) inches or less in width and an unladen dry weight of 600 lbs or less.

Scooters of less than 50 cc may be operated on the city streets by person with a valid Missouri driver’s license. No vehicle license is required and the operator is not required to wear a helmet.

3. What are the ordinances pertaining to fireworks?

The discharge of non-aerial fireworks is permitted between 4:00 pm and 10:00 pm on July 3 and July 4.

The shooting of aerial fireworks are permitted between 4:00 pm and 10:00 pm on July 3, and July 4 on three acre tracts of land or more.

Penalties for first offense $50.00 fine.
Second offense and third offense $75 to $100.00
Fourth offense and each additional offense after that are punishable under section 22-70 of the city code.

4. Is there a group for rental property owners in Liberty?

The Police Department and The Liberty Landlords Association have teamed together the form The Liberty Safe Residence Program. This program provides lease addendums to help protect landlords from criminal activity and other issues on their properties.

A member of The Liberty Landlords Association who signs a share information agreement will receive a weekly e-mailed bulletin with all police activities on members property each Tuesday. This information lets landlords know what type activity is occurring on their, as well as other members properties, and who is involved and the circumstances.

5. What are the designated truck routes?

M-291 Hwy from the south city limits at Old M-210 Hwy north to the city limits at M-291 Hwy and Ash St.

US 69 Hwy from M-33/I-35 to M-33 /B Hwy

I-35 from south city limits to the north city limits

The driving of commercial trucks within the designated prohibited area shall be permitted if said trucks are making deliveries or providing services on the designated truck routes.

6. Can I discharge a BB-gun or air soft gun in the city of Liberty?

No person is permitted to discharge any air, BB gun or pellet, rifle, gun or pistol within the city of Liberty unless it is during the participation in a firearm training program that’s safety has been approved by the chief of police.
