Liberty Christmas Tree Volunteers
Adopting a Family

Each year more than 250 families and more than 120 other households apply for assistance from the Liberty Community Christmas Tree.

Volunteers are needed to help shop for gifts for the families.  Adopting a family is easy.  Just follow these basic guidelines:

  • Attend one of  the shopper meetings to select a family.
    • Dec. 1, 6 p.m., Heritage Hall, 117 W. Kansas St., Liberty, Mo. 64068
    • Dec. 2, 6 p.m., LIberty Oaks Elementary School, 8150 N. Farley
      Kansas City, MO 64158
    • Dec. 3, 6 p.m.,  at Heritage Hall, 117 W. Kansas St., Liberty, Mo. 64068
  • Bring a photo I.D. with you to the meeting.
  • Call the family you have adopted to ask what their children would like for Christmas.
  • Take the voucher presented to you at the meeting to any of the approved stores to purchase the gifts.
  • Wrap all gifts and label each one clearly with the child's name.
  • Bring gifts with you to Heritage Hall (117 W. Kansas) to pick up the boxes of canned goods collected for the family on Dec.12.
  • Take the gifts and food to the family's home and wish them a happy holiday.
